Just What Does Mr. Buffett and Niche Marketing Share?

I have been off the newly found ( at least for me) hub-pages to attend the July 24th Jimmy Buffet concert in Chicago. I apologize for that, however when Mr. Buffett comes around all work stops. I'm pretty sure it's a law or in the bible or something. If your reading this your probably wondering just what does Niche marketing have to do with a Jimmy Buffett concert? The short answer is. I don't know I made it up! The long version may just put a tear in your eye.

Stop me if you've gotten involved with internet marketing by any of these phrases. Work from home, make millions, be your own boss, tired of the 9-5 rat race, travel whenever you want, work just 4 hours a day, visit exotic locations. Does any of this sound familiar? It is what we all dream of and what Mr. Buffett is actually living. Does he do internet marketing? Well yes he does via ;Radio Margaritiville. But he did not start out that way. No he actually pre-dates the internet. For you youngsters out there many of us over 30 geezers actually grew up in a world void of the internet!(gasp say it ain't so Hoot!) No I'm afraid it's true. What Mr. Buffett discovered was not only a niche or void that was not being exploited, but a dream we all as humans shared! Internet marketers are quick to exploit this dream now, but back in the early 1970's he dressed it in a tropical skirt and sold it to the world. My advice here being if your out there trying to piggy-back onto someone else's success. You may be destined to fail. Better by far to find a void nobody else is filling then market that. Do what it is you love then market that dream as a total package. Not just a single idea.

To continue on with the comparison, and to brag a little about getting sold-out tickets. It has been said that if you build a better mouse-trap. The world will beat a path to your door! I'm not sure that is true as the old mouse trap still works very well. What does ring true though seems to be, share a dream that others yearn for and they will support your endeavor. If what your dream consists of is travel. Then perhaps you should investigate a destination niche that you can market. Perhaps Cleveland in your mind is the most beautiful place you've ever seen. Then you should market that with passion and fervor. You may know that the majority of people prefer a tropical destination. However if your passion is strong and you are dedicated to the dream of Cleveland. Then you may have found a niche. What I guess I'm trying to say is don't try to be all things to all people. By the way I've been to Cleveland save your brochures.

I attended my 7th Jimmy Buffett concert on July 24th. It was my wifes first so that made it even more special. What makes a Buffett concert so fun is all the people in attendance. The concert started at 8:00 p.m. so we arrived at 5:00 p.m. to take in parrot-head mania. There is a tendancy for fans to live vicariously through his songs and lifestyle. If you have never been then at first glance you might be shocked by it all. Grown men dressed in grass skirts, Carmen Miranda Hats, and coconut bras. Shapely women dressed in grass skirts, Carmen Miranda Hats, and coconut bras. Rows and rows of tail-gating concert goers all displaying Tiki hut decor and sipping margaritas by the gallon. A spirit of fun so prevailing that I'm convinced if we were to all die at that moment. No undertaker could wipe the smiles off our faces. Whats his secret? That's easy. He found a niche and invited us to share his dream which is our dream too. The lesson here is have fun doing what your doing, and let others have just as much fun. If you can do all that. Which is find a niche, market to a select group who are like-minded, have fun while doing it, be passionate about, let others have fun. Then you my friend are well on your way to becoming wealthy. Word to the wise not all wealth is in the form of currency.

The hard truth is. Make money your second or third priority, maybe even your last. What good is trading the job you already have just to get another job? By that I mean if your whole heart is not in what your trying on the side. If it is not something you feel strongly passionate about. Then whats the point? If money is all you desire then rob banks. When Pretty Boy Floyd was asked why he robbed banks, he replied " That's Where The Money Is"! My passion by the way is making people laugh. Followed closely by writing. To be able to combine the two is a value beyond money. I hope you have enjoyed these ramblings, it is of a more serious nature than normal, but then even Marie Antionette had her off day.(sic humor).
